Countdown to Summer

Satchel Pulse - Spring Administration

Elementary students and teachers will once again participate in the Satchel Pulse Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) Screener, a tool to help us monitor and improve the social-emotional skills of all our students. D181 first utilized this SEL screener in our elementary schools during the 2023-2024 school year after a successful pilot during the 2022-2023 school year. Teachers of students in grades KG-5th will complete the screener about their students, while students in grades 3rd-5th will complete the screener about themselves. SEL skills include developing healthy habits, managing emotions, setting and achieving goals, developing empathy for others, establishing and maintaining supportive relationships, collaborating with others, and making responsible and caring decisions.

Satchel Pulse is a student-friendly screener with 25 simple questions, which will be administered during school during the week of May 11-15. Students and teachers will complete the screener which includes self-awareness, self-management, social awareness, relationship, and responsible decision-making questions.  Information gained from this screener will provide our school teams with additional insight to best support our students’ social, emotional, and academic growth.

Thank you!

On behalf of our entire Elm School staff, thank you for the thoughtful treats, generosity, and kindness you shared during Staff Appreciation Week. Your efforts made our team feel truly valued and celebrated.

From the car washes and refresher drinks to the delicious pizza and taco lunches, every detail reflected the care and appreciation you have for our staff. These gestures brought so much joy to our team and created moments of connection and gratitude throughout the week.

We are honored to work alongside such wonderful families and a PTO that continually demonstrates partnership and support. Thank you, again!

One-Day Sock Collection, May 26th

This month at Elm School, our Social Emotional Learning theme focuses on helping our community. Through our BESTIES lessons, students will be learning about empathy, kindness, and the importance of supporting others — especially those who may be less fortunate.

Did you know that socks are one of the most requested items at homeless shelters? To put our learning into action, Elm School will be hosting a one-day sock collection on Wacky Sock Day, May 26.

We invite students and families to wear their wackiest socks to school and consider donating new socks to help individuals in need within our community.

Your generosity helps our students see how small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference. Thank you for partnering with us to teach compassion, service, and care for others.
